PDF and Photo for Windows
=========================

Two small fixes for Windows 10 and 11. They change only your own Windows account, need no administrator,
install nothing and send nothing anywhere.

1. PDF previews in Outlook and File Explorer
Outlook's reading pane and File Explorer's preview pane show PDFs through a small Windows part called a
"preview handler". When a PDF program that had set one up is removed, PDFs are left without one, and
Outlook says "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it".
This sets the "Microsoft PDF Previewer" that Microsoft Edge installs, and keeps up to date, for PDF files.
It leaves alone a previewer that another program (Adobe, Foxit) has set and that works.

2. The PDF and Photo icon on PDF files
When PDF and Photo is installed as an app and chosen as your PDF app, File Explorer shows a blank page
for PDF files, because Chrome gives Windows no icon for them. This adds the icon.
(If the app isn't installed, this step says so and changes nothing.)

How to use it
-------------
1. Unzip this folder (right-click the zip, "Extract All...").
2. Double-click "Set up PDF and Photo on Windows.cmd".
If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click "More info", then "Run anyway".
3. Close Outlook and open it again. In File Explorer, press Alt+P to show the preview pane.

To undo: double-click "Undo PDF and Photo set-up.cmd".
To see how your computer opens and previews PDFs (changes nothing): double-click "PDF check.cmd". It writes
"PDF check - result.txt" in this folder.

Every step is in the .ps1 files, in plain text: open them in Notepad to read every line before running them.
